What Are Nits?

A nit (cd/m²) is the unit that measures how bright a display is. The higher the number, the brighter the screen.

Indoor vs Outdoor Brightness

  • Indoor LED: 600–1,500 nits
  • Semi-outdoor (shop windows): 2,000–3,000 nits
  • Outdoor LED: 4,500–7,000+ nits

For outdoor screens in direct sunlight, choose at least 5,000 nits so content stays readable all day.

How to Choose

Match brightness to your installation environment. Indoor screens don‘t need high nits, while outdoor billboards need maximum brightness to fight sunlight.
